The HR Generalist at FORTH plays a key role on the Human Resources team by supporting the full employee lifecycle alongside the HR Director and Employee Training and Relations Lead. This person will promote a positive employee experience and oversee a wide range of HR functions from recruitment and onboarding to employee benefits, administration, compliance and serve as the primary payroll processor. The HR Generalist is essential for upholding HR integrity, fostering employee growth, and creating a high-performance workplace. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Be the primary payroll processor, including biweekly and semi-monthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes.
- Administer benefits enrollment and deductions and be the point of contact for employee questions regarding 401K, healthcare, and HSA/FSA, etc.
- Play a role in the implementation of our new HRIS, Rippling, including auditing employee files and creating processes during the transition.
- Serve as one of the HRIS administrators to help with time off policies, support workflow generation, recruiting etc.
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process by posting jobs, scheduling interviews, communicating cross-departmentally, and managing offer letters.
- Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with our Employee Training and Relations Lead.
- Assist with new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Maintain physical and digital files for employees.
- Send out administrative emails and communications as needed (i.e., 30-60-90 day surveys for employees and managers).
- Assign annual harassment training to employees and ensure compliance and completion.
- Maintain labor law posters and assign state-specific policies to remote employees for acknowledgement annually.
- Create templates for HR documents and maintain existing documents and policies.
- Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, organizational chart, and other files and contribute to policy development.
- Collaborate with other members of the HR department to develop and implement strategies that support FORTH’s goals and objectives.
- Provide support for HR projects and initiatives, as needed.
- Perform daily duties in line with FORTH’s Information Security Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure information confidentiality, integrity and privacy is always maintained with processing information assets.

Qualifications and Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years of HR experience in lieu of a degree (high school diploma required).
- 2+ years of payroll experience.
- 3+ years of HR experience.
- 4+ years of professional experience.
- Experience supporting a workforce of 50+.
- 1+ year(s) of HRIS admin/management experience and/or ATS (e.g., Paychex, Paycor, Workday, ADP, Rippling).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Degree in business management, business administration, human resource management, or related field.
- SHRM-CP, aPHR, PHR, or other HR certification.
- 3+ years of payroll experience.
- Experience with Rippling HRIS.
- Experience with open enrollment.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
